transfer to cva

We welcome transfer students! Any student who has previously attended another college or university prior to applying to CVA is considered a transfer student. This includes classes taken as part of Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO). The first step to becoming a CVA transfer student is to go through the application process.

Transfer students must have official, sealed transcripts sent to CVA from their high school and all post-secondary institutions attended. Accepted students will go through an official evaluation of transfer credit with an admissions counselor. Applicants may transfer a maximum of 60 semester credits.

Credits may be evaluated when:

  • Academic credits were earned at a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
  • The applicant received a "C" or above in the course.
  • The course is appropriate to CVA's curriculum (Remedial and developmental course credits will not be transferred).

Transferring Studio Credit

Students attempting to transfer studio credits must submit work completed in each course they wish to transfer. The appropriate department chair will be contacted to review the coursework. Decisions are based on the official transcripts, the quality of work, and equivalency of the work shown to classes offered at CVA. Transfer evaluations for all prospective studio credits should be submitted prior to the beginning of the term for which the student is seeking admission, as it may affect the student's registration. Transfer evaluation forms are available in the Admissions Office.

Transferring Liberal Arts Credit

Students attempting to transfer liberal arts credits must submit a course description and if possible, a syllabus and writing samples from each course they wish to transfer. The Chair of Liberal Arts Department will review the coursework. Decisions are based on the official transcripts, the quality of work, and equivalency of the work shown to classes offered at CVA. Transfer evaluations for all prospective liberal arts credits should be submitted prior to the beginning of the term for which the student is seeking admission, as it may affect the student's registration. Transfer evaluation forms are available in the Admissions Office.
