Immerse yourself in the world of black and white photography. Learn how to use a 35mm camera* and how it relates to contemporary digital photography. Shoot, process film, make contact sheets in the darkroom, and learn how to make 8x10 black and white prints in the CVA photo lab.

*CVA has several 35mm cameras available for the course that can be reserved on a first come basis. Please inquire upon registering.

headshotAbout the Instructor: Steve Stenzel
Steve studied at the College of Visual Arts, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in photography. He received an MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He has taught at Brown College and is currently teaching at the University of Minnesota, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and the College of Visual Arts. Steve’s work has been shown in galleries internationally and his work is in numerous public and private collections. His latest work has been seen in Texas, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Colorado, and North Carolina. He was commissioned by The New York Times Magazine to shoot a cover story, which was published on November 19th, 2006. Since then, he has completed three more projects for the The New York Times.
