Alvin Lustig (1993 AIGA Medalist) and Elaine Lustig Cohen (2011 AIGA Medalist) created a distinctive body of design work that melded the ideas of European modernism with a uniquely American approach to graphic design. THE LUSTIGS: a cover story exhibition will include covers designed and illustrated by Alvin and Elaine Lustig between 1933 and 1961.
Guest lecturer for the series is renowned design historian Steven Heller (1999 AIGA Medalist), author of Born Modern: The Life and Design of Alvin Lustig. Heller was senior art director at The New York Times for more than 30 years, the author, editor, or co-author of over 130 books on design, and currently co-chair of the MFA Designer as Author department at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
