A National Exhibition of Selected Photographs and Sculptures from the Collections of Gary and JoAnn Fink and the Museum Louvre It Or Leave It

Martin Weinstein, gallery owner and long-time friend of Gary and JoAnn, wrote the Forward to the exhibition catalog. Weinstein writes:

“JoAnn and Gary Fink were assembling a collection of artwork in all media without regard to the celebrity of the artists making the work long before the social frenzy of art fairs, auction house commoditization of art made by the art star du jour, and the rise of trendy collections funded by recently minted billionaires.”

The current exhibition drawn from the Fink’s extensive collection of sculpture and photography astutely juxtaposes haunting images such as Deborah Butterfield’s Beacon with Mike and Doug Starn’s Half Concave Athenian Horse and Neck as well as the monumental The Sphere of the Skull. Riveting photographs by Sebastiao Salgado, Annie Leibovitz, Luis González Palma, and Robert Polidori mingle in aura of pathos yet great beauty. Images that could not better convey the essence of the subject.
