More About Templin

Hailing from Wisconsin, Templin began his professional career at the Minneapolis firm Gardner Design before joining the highly influential firm Charles S. Anderson Design (CSA). In 1996, he made the move to San Francisco to develop Foote, Cone & Belding’s internal retail design group. He then decided to strike out on his own and co-founded Templin Brink Design (T.B. D.) where, for nine years, he created award-winning work for clients like Apple, Avaya, Foster’s Wine Estates, Cisco, Coca-Cola, Janus, Lee Jeans, Levi Strauss & Co., MTV, Pepsi-Cola, Pixar, Quiksilver, Target Stores, and Williams-Sonoma.

In 2007, Templin co-founded Hatch Design based on the belief that the best design is honest, hands-on, and human. The firm helps new products and businesses get off the ground, and helps existing brands soar creating brand identity, packaging, collateral, advertising, promotional, and interactive design for some of the world’s top global companies, such as American Eagle Outfitters, Apple, Coca-Cola, Hilton, Oracle, Starbucks, and more.

Hatch’s work has been recognized for excellence in virtually every major branding and design competition around the world. Their work has been published in more than 100 design books, and they have recently received two important distinctions from graphic design publications: “The 35 Most Sought-After Firms in America” by Graphic Design America, and “Top 60 Branding Agencies in the U.S.” by Graphis. Examples of their work can be found in the permanent collections of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.
