remote access

PLEASE NOTE: Contact the CVA Library staff if you have trouble getting into any database.

ARTstor

Remote access to ARTstor for CVA users is by Remote Access Grace Period. Users may access ARTstor remotely by first creating a registered user account when accessing ARTstor from any computer on the CVA campus. Each registered user account comes with a 120-day "grace period" during which it may be used to access ARTstor from any computer. If a user tries to access ARTstor from off-campus, a small window requesting log-in information will appear. As long as there is time remaining in the Remote Access Grace Period, the user will be able to log in and enter ARTstor with his or her registered user account. Each time a user logs in to his or her account from a CVA on campus computer, the 120-day grace period is reset.

For more information on remote access, please see ARTstor Online Help or contact the CVA library staff.

Britannica, EBSCO, Gale, or Proquest databases

For each of these respective databases, first click the off campus link. Then, type your 7-digit CVA Library barcode number in the login or authentication box.

OCLC Databases

For off campus or remote access to the OCLC databases, including ArticleFirst, ArchiveGrid, CAMIO, The World Almanac and others, you must use the Electronic Library of Minnesota (ELM) portal. If your computer's Internet address is recognized as a Minnesota address, you will have immediate access to ELM resources. If your Internet address is not recognized , you will be asked to type in your library card number from a participating Minnesota public library.

Please note your CVA Library barcode number will not work. For more information about ELM, please click the ELM FAQ page  or ask the library staff.
