Erickson and Ross on Ars Technica

Jamey Erickson '04 and Jesse Ross '03, both "self-admitted nerds," are featured in an article on Ars Technica the news and information website.  Their project "Yavin IV" entailed launching a weather balloon equipped with a playmate cooler, an iphone, a Droid Eris, a Garmin GPS unit and a flip video camera in order to capture images of "space".   Their test launch was September 24, 2010 with the balloon reaching an approximate altitude of 95,000 to 105,000 feet.

They hope to use another balloon launch as an educational opportunity for local area high school students.
