O'Brien at Birchwood Cafe

Illustration Chair James O’Brien has a solo exhibiton Portraits: 2005 - 2011 at the Birchwood Cafe in Minneapolis from September 8 - October 2, 2011. The exhibition is comprised of prints, drawings, and posters of Abbey Lincoln, Thom Yorke, Barack Obama, John McCain, Calvin Coolidge, Mr. Ted, Paul Clauss, and Rocky Marciano, plus a menacing figure from Ft. Worth, a brainy CEO, a troubled couple, a monster cyclist, and a stranger from a strange land.

The opening reception is Thursday,  September 8, 2011 from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. and will also include live music performed by the jazz trio Five Story Igloo, Kristen Froebel on sax, Eric Struve on bass, Chris Hepola on drums, standards, originals and a few favorites from the romper room.
