Schneider Commissioned by Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra

CVA student Kellie Schneider has been commissioned to create artwork for the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra’s “Past Masters, Present Promise” concert to be held on March 31, 2012 at the Temple Theatre. Conductor Brett Mitchell waited 20 years to find the right artist to illustrate Ravel’s “Mother Goose: Five Children’s Pieces.” Ravel explores the magical transformations of Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, and other fairy tales and folklore, and the illustrations by Schneider explore the same themes visually. Her acrylic, watercolor, and oil pastel paintings will be projected onstage while the orchestra performs Ravel’s work, and her artwork will also be on display throughout the theater.
