Hetrick '12 and Mercil '12 open insert.GALLERY

Alumni Andrew Hetrick ’12 and Joshua Mercil ’12 have announced the inaugural opening for their new project, insert.GALLERY, a phantom gallery focused on one-night events at alternative venues that showcase emerging Minnesota artists and musicians. The opening show, titled Dis Location, takes place on Saturday May 19, 2012 during art-a-whirl weekend, at the Loft @ Barfly in downtown Minneapolis. Dis Location features over 20 local emerging artists working in everything from painting, sculpture, video, and photography, as well as four local bands.

Believing strongly that art should be accessible to the public without the intellectual intimidation of an institution, insert.GALLERY attempts to leave behind traditional means of presentation and installation while creating an intimate and energetic environment for an experience not typically associated with a gallery experience.
