Birawer '93 in CBS Minnesota

Michael Birawer ’93 is featured in an interview “Curiocity: Michael Birawer On His Iconic Skyline Paintings” at CBS Minnesota. His unique style of painting is a combination of graffiti, cartoon, illustration, and heavy textures.

When asked about his work Birawer states, “In my work, I strive to capture the connections between people and place that create identity. Where we stop for coffee in the morning, have a beer with a friend, or celebrate an anniversary all become a part of who we are as individuals, neighbors, and community members. By exaggerating the personalities of the people and architecture, I hope to inspire emotions and evoke memories for the viewer; feelings that may go unnoticed or under-appreciated in the routine of life. Additionally, I hope that my work makes people think about the importance of community in a world that seems to be increasingly individualistic.”

Birawer has also been featured on Twin Cities Public Television’s Minnesota Original series.

Birawer has a number of events coming up including a Holiday signing at Deck the Walls at Mall of America on Saturday, November 17 and Deck the Walls at Rosedale Center on Saturday, December 15. His annual 2012 Holiday Show is Friday, November 30 - Sunday, December 2 at Michael Birawer Gallery in Minnespolis.
