GERMAN EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Hochschule fur angewandte Wissenschaft und Kunst (HAWK)
Up to 30 course credits
The College of Visual Arts is pleased to announce the continuation of its student exchange with an art and design school in the northern Germany city of Hildesheim. The duration of the exchange can now be one or two semesters. The program at HAWK offers most every studio course CVA offers plus courses in interior architecture, industrial design, calligraphy, advanced color studies and restorative arts. Several German students have been identified to participate in an exchange arrangement with one or two CVA students. A similar exchange will occur simultaneously with up to three students from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie. Participating students will continue to pay full-time tuition at CVA and will be enrolled here while taking a German's position in Hildesheim. They will also trade living arrangements. Additional out of pocket expenses should be limited to airfare and the cost of any travel one might take advantage of while in Europe. In most cases this exchange should not extend a student's anticipated graduation date. German language skills are strongly encouraged, but not required.

An information meeting with Professor Hans-Fredrich Muller, who oversees the program at HAWK, is scheduled for October 18th at 11:15 in room 203 Summit.

This program is open to all students within the General Studio Arts Program. To qualify students are required to have successfully completed their first year foundation program and the second year of the General Studio Arts program. To qualify, interested students must meet with the department chair within their chosen area of concentration. If approved, students need to prepare a one page written document explaining why they want to participate in this exchange.

The following information must also be included:
Name, address, telephone number, and e-mail
Major
Last semester's grade transcripts
Living arrangements you plan on providing your exchange partner
Language skills
Please submit this document to John DuFresne's faculty mailbox by 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 29th. A list of accepted applicants and alternates will be distributed by Wednesday, December 19th. Selections will be based on academic performance, faculty recommendation, class standing (junior year preferred), and suitability.

ART IN NEW YORK CITY – SUMMER 2007

WHAT IS ART IN NEW YORK CITY AT CVA?
CVA's summer Art in New York City program is a two -week class conducted in the heart of New York City. The program is offered as a three-credit elective in either Studio Arts or Liberal Arts and is taught by full-time CVA faculty. The class is designed to broaden student's visual vocabulary and introduce the rich culture of New York City, the major U.S. center of art and design.

WHAT WILL STUDENTS DO WHILE IN NEW YORK CITY?
During their two weeks in New York the students are immersed in the culture of the city by visiting numerous world-renowned galleries, museums and artist studios. Museum hopping includes: the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Natural History, International Center for Photography, Whitney Museum of American Art, Cooper Hewitt, National Design Museum and the Guggenheim Museum to name a few.

The pace is quick, but there is still time to enjoy the world famous sites of New York City. Typically, there is an evening of Broadway entertainment, a peaceful cruise around the tip of Manhattan, a walk through Central Park and a visit to the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building.

IS FINANCIAL AID AVAILABLE?
Yes. Information on financial aid is available in the financial aid office. Scholarships are available.
