6. What internship opportunities are available?
CVA’s internship program gives students an opportunity to gain valuable experience while working with professional artists, illustrators, photographers, and designers. Many CVA students have been offered full-time employment from their internship providers upon graduation, or have developed contacts for future employment.

Students are encouraged to seek out desired positions with businesses, organizations, or particular areas of interest. Students make speak with department chairs to obtain recommendations and referrals for potential opportunities. In addition to gaining work experience, students may earn a specified amount of credit determined by the nature of the internship.

7. What are portfolio reviews?
Each student is scheduled for a portfolio review in the third and sixth semesters of attendance. These reviews allow faculty to evaluate a student’s overall progress towards program completion. The portfolio review also offers students intensive advising time with a group of faculty to ensure that the student is progressing at an appropriate pace through the program. In unusual instances, portfolio reviews may result in a student being advised to retake some classes, or indicate that additional time at CVA would be beneficial. For more information, please contact Registrar Lois Caneday lcaneday@cva.edu.

8. What is the process to be re-admitted to CVA?
All former students who have been away from the college for one or more semesters must file an application for readmission. The form may be obtained from the Admissions Office. A student will be reinstated if he or she is in good academic standing. A student who has been academically suspended may be reinstated only after the Academic Review Committee has granted approval. Applicants who have been gone longer than three years must meet the degree requirements of the catalog in effect upon their return. Certain time-sensitive courses may need to be repeated. All coursework completed over three years prior to readmission will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
